Sheep Shearing Day 2014

Experience a fun-filled work day on a sustainable ranch—Sheep Shearing Day 2014!

JOIN US FOR SHEARING DAY!  The Ramstead Ranch 2014 shearing day is set for March 8.  We’ll be shearing the beautiful handspinning fleeces from 61 sheep, and we need volunteers to help.  This is a fun day of farming camaraderie, and the more hands, the merrier!

Our day starts at 7am and we work until all 61 sheep are shorn—plan to stay until 5pm at the earliest.  We will provide you with a hot lunch and warm drinks throughout the day.

No experience is necessary – we’ll teach you all you need to know!  This is light-duty work and a chance to observe a professional shearer in action.  You’ll learn all about growing great wool, how handspinners prepare it for use, and share ideas with other farm friendly folks.

MEET THE NEWLY EXPANDED FLOCK  This fall, Melissa Lines of SkyLines Farm near Moscow, ID retired from the sheep raising side of her farm.  Having long loved her handspinning fleeces, we jumped at the opportunity to purchase her beautiful sheep to add to our flock.  Come meet all of the sheep and get hands-on with their beautiful wool!
